Inspection services

From buying a home to building one, Mike inspects with a contractor's eye and explains what he finds in plain language.

Buyer inspections

Know what you're getting into before you close. Mike tells you what needs repair and about how much it may cost, and, as a contractor, how items should be fixed when appropriate. If the seller is participating in repair costs, that information can help you negotiate.

Mike will never condemn a property: since many buyers purchase fixer-uppers to save money, he simply lists the items that need attention. As he puts it, everything is fixable.

New-home inspections

Don't wait until after escrow closes to have your new home inspected!

Builders are generally much more responsive to repair requests before escrow closes than afterward. Once you've closed escrow and moved in, getting the builder to address outstanding issues can become a slow and frustrating process.

However, when a professional home inspection identifies deficiencies before closing, you have greater leverage to get those issues corrected promptly. Builders have a strong incentive to complete necessary repairs and keep the closing on schedule.

The bottom line: Have your new home professionally inspected before escrow closes, while you still have the greatest leverage to get problems resolved.
